The Old Oak Manor has four en suite rooms called Tara, Julius, Misty and Felix and are named after cats. Two of the rooms, named after the two "fat cats" Tara and Julius, are located at the back of the house and open onto a patio leading to the swimming pool. Both there rooms have full bathrooms.
The other two rooms, named after the two "sleek cats" Felix and Misty, are respectively located to the side and front of the house. These bedrooms also have double beds with an en-suite bathroom one containing a shower (Misty) and the other (Felix), a more spacious room, has a full bathroom. The same relaxed style of décor was used here.
The Guest house is a perfect ‘get-away’ for a group of friends or a family. Enjoy the summer months around the pool sipping cocktails followed by a dinner at our restaurant under the stars surrounded by fairy lights. In the winter months start with some local wine tasting, take in all the beauty and freshness the rain brings, followed by a delicious meal next to our fireplace.
All rooms have air-conditioning with both cooling and heating functions.
The Loft is located above the restaurant. This spacious living area consists of an open plan lounge, bedroom (king size bed) and a beautiful en-suite bathroom. The loft also has a single slay bed for an adult or child. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the room and room service can be ordered from the restaurant during normal open hours. With its special interior, this space is very popular as a honeymoon suite. Heating panels on the walls ensure you keep warm during winter months and a mobile air cooler for the summer months.
History
The Guest House was once an old farm house dating back to around 1856. It is apparently one of the oldest houses in Riebeek Kasteel and started life as a Victorian style building. This was changed to a Cape-Dutch style with the addition of a gable at some point. Unfortunately, the only original elements remaining today are the clay ceiling in some parts of the building and the half-meter thick clay walls (the original doors and windows were replaced).
The oldest oak tree on the property (estimated to be 180 years old) stands at the entrance of the guest house. The other old oak on the property, which is estimated at about 150 years, provides a welcome shade to the restaurant outside area.
A previous owner once had a vision of horses drinking at a wooden trough at the back of the house where the swimming pool is located today. Such stories stimulate the romantic imagination around the history of the place.
Reviews
Little pocket of France tucked away in the Swartland. Nice one night getaway for two couples. Enjoyed the sites of the town in the evening and hearty breakfast at Cafe Felix to soak up the weekend festivities!

The loft is amazing. It was warm and cosy, yet elegant. The closeness to the road was no problem at all. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect, cosy and elegant. The bathroom is an amazing heaven.

Quirky and funky Loved the quirky décor and we had the house to ourselves which was great. The fire stoves made the lounge very cosy and warm. Enjoyed an excellent meal at the restaurant – Cafe Felix.
